Robert Bailey honored with 2007 Man of Achievement Award

WORCESTER, MA— Robert Bailey was honored with the Man of Achievement by the Phi Kappa Theta Foundation. The Man of Achievement Award, started in 1980 and awarded by the Foundation’s Board of Trustees, is the highest honor bestowed upon Brothers of Phi Kappa Theta Fraternity.  The award recognizes members who have risen to prominence in their chosen fields of endeavor. Bailey was recognized at the Fraternity’s National Meeting on August 4, 2007.

Bailey was a man of many traits and many hobbies. He seemed to have his hand in numerous places all throughout the community. After 41 years he retired from Lilly Industries Inc. in Indianapolis, IN. He held several titles there which included Technical Director, Sales Manager, Vice President, and he served on the Board of Directors for 23 years.

He was the Head of the Scientific Committee for the National Paint and Coatings Association for 4 years. He served as President for the Downtown Optimist Club. He also sat at different levels of the SCORE Association, including: Chairmen, member of the Board of Directors, and lastly the District Director of Indianapolis. He was the Chairmen for the Indianapolis Zoo Capital Campaign, and lastly he was a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers.

Bailey attended Purdue University, where he was initiated into the Indiana Zeta chapter of Phi Kappa Theta. He later served as the President for the Indiana Zeta Alumni Association.
