Fred Habegger honored with 2015 Man of Achievement Award

LEXINGTON, KY— Fred Habegger was honored with the Man of Achievement by the Phi Kappa Theta Foundation. The Man of Achievement Award, started in 1980 and awarded by the Foundation’s Board of Trustees, is the highest honor bestowed upon Brothers of Phi Kappa Theta Fraternity.  The award recognizes members who have risen to prominence in their chosen fields of endeavor. Habegger was recognized during the Fraternity’s Biennial Convention on August 1, 2015 in Lexington, KY.

Following graduation, Fred served in the Coast Guard during the Vietnam War. After his stint in the military, he joined his father in the HVAC business and became president of Habegger Corporation in 1970. In conjunction with the rest of his siblings, Fred grew their family business from a small startup to a $230 million company branching across 7 states.

Fred has been actively involved in many business, education, and social activities over the years, including: the President of ASHRAE, American Society of Heating & Air Conditioning Engineers, Chairman of Bryant’s National Advisory Board, Board of Directors for Al Neyer Construction Co., and Board of Directors for T/P Mechanical Co. One of his most notable accomplishments is receiving the Carl Lindner Business Achievement Award from the University of Cincinnati.

Fred attended the University of Cincinnati, where he was initiated into the Ohio Omicron chapter and he served as chapter president. He also paved the way for his two younger brothers to become Phi Kaps as well.
