General Roland Lajoie honored with 2004 Man of Achievement Award

WORCESTER, MA— General Roland Lajoie was honored with the Man of Achievement by the Phi Kappa Theta Foundation. The Man of Achievement Award, started in 1980 and awarded by the Foundation’s Board of Trustees, is the highest honor bestowed upon Brothers of Phi Kappa Theta Fraternity.  The award recognizes members who have risen to prominence in their chosen fields of endeavor. Gen. Lajoie was recognized during the Fraternity’s Fraternity’s National Meeting on August 7, 2004.

Upon graduation, Lajoie was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the Army. He served as the Chairmen of the US-Russia Joint Commission on POW-MIA’s. He was the Deputy Assistant to the Secretary of Defense for Cooperative Threat Reduction (CTR). He was also the Assistant Deputy Director for Operations/Military Affairs for the CIA.

Lajoie received numerous medals and accommodations for his military service, including: the Defense Distinguished Service Medal 3 times, the Defense Superior Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, National Intelligence Distinguished Service Medal, the Legion of Merit, and he was awarded the Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster.

Lajoie earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science from the University of New Hampshire, where he was initiated into the New Hampshire Epsilon chapter of Phi Kappa Theta. He then went on to obtain a Master of Arts in History at the University of Colorado.
